ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24, 2016 MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD'S LIFE, JUST BY TAKING CLASS:
Hi Dancers! My name is Danielle Smith Guillermo. Last year, I had the honor of beginning the "Day of Dance" tradition by supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Harrisburg, PA. We raised approximately $700 in support of research for the cure! This year, the "Day of Dance" will support the Lemoyne, PA based, CURE International's Clubfoot Program in the Dominican Republic. What is the Day of Dance? On the Day of Dance, dancers ages 10- adult from schools throughout Central Pennsylvania come together to learn from teachers in various dance techniques. Teachers generously volunteer their time and energy. Admission for the event is FREE! In lieu of class or admission fees, students are asked to make a contribution to the chosen charity. It is a wonderful time to come together as a dance community and share in the art that we all love, while contributing to people in need.
What is CURE? CURE is an organization that serves the physical and spiritual needs of children with disabilities. Life-changing healing for the poorest of the poor takes place in CURE hospitals around the world on a daily basis. CURE currently has 10 hospitals in places where care is most needed and often least available and 18 Clubfoot Clinics in countries around the world.
What is Clubfoot? Clubfoot is a congenital deformity that twists the foot, making it difficult or impossible to walk. Your support will give children the opportunity to walk, and even dance! Learn more about the Clubfoot Program here.
I first learned of CURE International in 2006 and made a trip to CURE Pediatric Hospital in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in March of 2007. There, I had an opportunity to meet and pray for employees, patients, and families. I also met Richard, a medical student and interpreter working for CURE, whom I married in 2010! Together, we believe in the mission of CURE and have seen first-hand the impact it has on the nations it serves.
